Just Turned 65? Senior couple driving through the Grand Canyon, with a green Start pin and a red Finish pin

Just Turned 65?

Navigating all the options in Medicare can be tricky. I’m here to simplify it for you, and I’ll be there at every turn in the road. Long after that, I’ll still be here whenever you need help, have questions, or want to change directions.

Your path, at a glance

Your Medicare Roadmap: a clear path from learning about coverage to ongoing support. Review the timing checkpoints that apply to you.

  1. 6–12 months before 65: time to learn

Compare Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, prescription coverage, and Medicare Supplement options. Start a list of your priorities and schedule a conversation with Seth.

  2. Your Initial Enrollment Period

For most people turning 65, this lasts seven months: three months before your birthday month, that month, and three months after. A birthday on the first changes the timing. Seth can help you identify your dates; Social Security handles enrollment in Parts A and B.

  3. Still working?

Before delaying Medicare, check with your employer’s benefits administrator. Current-employment group coverage, employer size, and HSA contributions can affect your decision. Review this with Seth before making changes.

  4. Missed your enrollment window?

Contact Seth to review your situation. A Special Enrollment Period may apply. Otherwise, the General Enrollment Period for Parts A and B is January 1–March 31, with coverage generally starting the following month.

  5. Understand possible penalties

Late enrollment may increase your Part B or Part D premiums. Exceptions depend on your coverage and enrollment circumstances. Review your deadlines and any creditable drug coverage before delaying enrollment.

  6. Know your costs

Compare premiums, deductibles, copays, coinsurance, drug costs, and provider networks. Seth will help you consider the overall cost of coverage and check whether assistance programs may apply.

  7. After you enroll

Check your enrollment confirmation and coverage start date. Keep your cards handy, review your plan documents, and contact Seth with questions. We can revisit your coverage as your needs change.

These are planning checkpoints, not automatic enrollment instructions. Your deadlines and coverage start date depend on your situation. Contact Seth before changing existing coverage.
